@mim,

I have ordered the original Bamboo version (not the Fun version as I don't need all the extra software bundle). I didn't notice the lack of eraser function before purchase. But I think the comparison might be saying that there are 512 levels on the eraser for for Fun version but only one level of eraser on the original Bamboo version. I'm not sure though. Only time will tell when I receive my item in couple of days to confirm this.

@mim, I hadn't noticed that... You know, I've never used one without an eraser, but I have a feeling I'd miss it. It's not essential but it's definitely nice to have.

It seems like the bamboo fun has an eraser, but not the bamboo?

Do you think the eraser function is really important? Is it worth the extra $20-30? :)

I don't know what a serious artist is, but if you use a tablet a lot, you'll want the biggest one you can afford. The bigger the tablet is compared to your screen size, the more accurate it will be. The intuos tablets also give you better resolution, pressure sensitivity, and additional function keys for streamlining your workflow.

I got by with a small for years, but having used both a small and medium, I'd recommend at least the medium unless you're just doing stuff like signing documents.

I'm using it on Linux but you need the 8.0+ (the very latest) version of the linux wacom drivers for it to work. Check your distro to see what version you have. Ubuntu Hardy only comes with 7.9.8 currently, for example.
